BioIf you've arrived at my journal to read some fic or thought about friending me but then thought, wow, I know nothing about this girl - not her name, not her job, not her intentions...
Well let me clear those things up right now:
YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I leave my name and the specifics of my job out of all of my posts, and out of 95% of my correspondence, on purpose. Not that I'm so famous, but, in RL, I know lots of people through work and my personal life that I really, really wouldn't feel comfortable sharing the kind of stuff I post about on LJ with. I know this is not uncommon, but I don't want anyone to think I'm being unfriendly or dishonest.
The intent of starting this journal for me was to have an outlet where I could vent about things that I generally shouldn't talk about in real life, so that's the reason for all of the secrecy. I do work in the media business, and am sometimes privy to information that is relevant to fandom, and if I got caught leaking it, I'd be cut off (and pretty embarassed!) so I try to stay as private as possible.
However, what I can tell you is that I live in NYC, travel quite a bit throughout the US, have a husband, daughter and dog, and I'm generally a laid-back person. Friend me if you like, don't friend me or de-friend me if you like too. I won't mind. I barely ever f-lock any posts, so it's not a big deal either way. If I've friended you, it's likely because you write fic that I like, or you are funny and smart and I want to hear about the things you tend to post about. So just keep on doing what you're doing.
